Hi! This is Derek Gehl, host of the Project Ignite podcast. I want to welcome you to our very first episode of what I intend to become the best podcast for digital entrepreneurs and the very best online marketing podcast. To kick things off, I want to answer the question of “who is this digital business and online marketing podcast for?”

and I think the best way to explain it is this podcast is really for the aspiring digital entrepreneurs of the world.

The people regardless of age, race, or gender, that have made the choice that you’re no longer happy with the standard path in life that society has laid out for us. You’re not happy with the go-to-school, get-a-job, trade-time-for-money road map that we’ve been taught all our lives and that we, for some reason, we keep teaching our upcoming generations.

I want to share a quote with you–it’s one of my favourites about entrepreneurship. The reason it’s one of my favourites is that there’s so much truth behind it.

“Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t, so that you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t.”

That is who this podcast is for. It’s for the crazy people, the non-conformists who’ve decided to say, “screw the nine to five,” and find a better way forward. But not just any better way, a better way using what is now the most powerful business platform of this era. And that’s the Internet.

We’re at the beginning of a new era; a era where regular people can start businesses in their spare time with minimal investment, and minimal risk.

Where you can not only make more money than you ever thought possible, you can have a life where you can live on your own terms.

Where you can work where you want, when you want, and can actually do something you love–and in my books, that is truly the ultimate freedom. This is a freedom I’ve had for many, many years now, and I want to share it with as many people as possible.

Now, knowing that, let’s talk about what you can expect from future episodes of the Project Ignite podcast.

First, let me be clear: on this podcast, you’re not going to find fluff, or hype, or that get-rich-quick BS.

The fact is, if you want to start to grow a business on the Internet, it is going to take commitment. It is going to take time.

But as the quote I just shared with you says, if you want to live the rest of your life like most people can’t, you need to be prepared to spend some time living like most people won’t. Now, I don’t want to scare you off.

Does that mean you have to neglect your family, your friends, your health, and lock yourself in a room at your computer for the next two years? No! Absolutely not.

That said, it might mean making some changes. It might mean turning the TV off a little more often, or spending a little less time on Facebook and on Youtube, and maximizing the time you have to achieve the results you want.

So, to do this, to help you and to enable you, going forward there will be two episode formats in my digital business and online marketing podcast.

The first format in this internet marketing podcast is simply going to be me training you. On these episodes, I’m going to be sharing strategies and tools that you can take away to start growing your business on the Internet to make more money and join this new era of entrepreneurs–living life on your own terms. I’m going to be pulling real examples from my businesses: how I’m living that life, showing you how I’m doing it. It’s not theory, it’s practical; so you can take that away and model that in your life to achieve that result.

The second episode format in this online marketing podcast is going to be the interview format. Over the past fifteen years, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with and getting to know some incredible entrepreneurs and experts from around the world. In fact, we’ve already queued up a lineup of amazing people that I’m going to bring to you so that you can learn from them. From massively successful entrepreneurs running seven-, eight-figure businesses that you’ve probably never even heard of, to best selling authors, experts, and industry leaders.
